April 5th Blog

This was one photo that I had stumbled on. It got my attention because it seems to have this illusion effect that I wasn't sure how. I don't really know if there is any effect to it at all, or if it's just the way that the trees are that give it that.

April 3rd Blog

This photo shows a nice environment to it and has a nice feel. It has 2 people that are almost silhouetted and it frames them in the photo as to where they about to go. The clouds ads a nice view with it blocking the sun and just a bit of it showing. With the clouds being white and the mountain being white, it seems to add a little more depth to it.

In this person, you have a nice rock formation that add interest to the photo, along with the person that is in there. You can just barely see the face and the coat of the person as the light on her head illuminates her.

This photo, has a biker stopping for a break on a hilltop as he is slightly silhouetted. The clouds help the photo from being to blown out by the sun and the sepia effect (if there is one) adds a nice feel to the photo.

This photo was taken with a fish eye lens as a snowboarder is clearing over a jump and the photographer catches him midair. This would be a nice product shot has the photo has a nice open feel to it and you can see the bottom of the board, which displays the brand.

You have 2 people, standing on a hilltop with their bags on their backs and looking out towards to the sunset. You have nice colors that stick out a little and if going for promoting the bag, is a good choice. You can also see all of the rock climbing stuff that they have on and the ropes they used, allowing this photo to also promote just an outdoor lifestyle in general.

March 22nd Blog

These are a couple still shots that I got when a group of us went to the Petroglyph Canyons. The first and second were captured during a sunrise with the second being a little after and didn't really have that good of lighting on it to make it interesting and so I decided to go with a black and white. The 3rd photo was set up with the fire right below a group of carvings. The fire was made, the tracks were wiped away and snow was covered over areas to make it look like no one had been there and gave it this awesome look. For the third photo, we had captured it from different angles and too be honest, I do like the photo and the set up, but I'm not a big fan of the angle that I took it from.

The entire trip was pretty fun with the only downside being cold every night. As soon as you got into your sleeping bag, you didn't really want to get out. It was also interesting learning about something like this being so close to Billings. It was even funnier learning about the perversion that the tribe had that I didn't think would have existed in a tribe that lived so long ago. The same perversion also gave the valley a nickname that I didn't know about and that Dave told me. The Valley of the Dong; due to being that the tribesmen were known for having long genitalia. As for that being an actual nickname for the valley...that I am unsure of...

March 15th Blog

http://www.designerterminal.com/inspiration/photography/portrait-photography-gallery-inspiration.html

I was stumbling when I came across this. It is 100 examples of portrait photography that I found to be pretty cool. I thought that they were great examples and there is also so much varieties of them. Going through it, I found that I didn't really get bored with them at all because each one that you look at is different than the previous and I also thought that they were well done.

This was a video that I found a while ago that I thought was pretty cool. Although, it doesn't really go with photography, its still a pretty cool collection of video and editing that went into it.

Feb. 16th Blog Post

I decided to go wtih something along the lines of food photgraphy mostly because we were in the category of still life. Food is an interesting still like because there are so many different things that you can actually do with it. With it, there are so many combinations of foods, tons of different designs, and one of the things that stands out the most to me is the colors that come with it.

Feb. 9th Blog

I thought I would just share some stuff that were from a different persepctive. Its interesting how you can take some things that are very boring and by looking at them from a different angle, they can become much interesting. Then taking the photo just adds so much iterest to it. You're able to look at it from a different point of view and that gives the viewer a sense of interest in trying to discern the picture from the point that they are looking at.

To add to what the class is doing, I thought that I would just go and look for some things on still life photography. The website has a lot of neat little things and tips about it. There are various articles that could help some of the groups in producing quality images.

For this blog, I thought I would just share some tutorial videos on Time Lapses. I just stumbled on these like I do with all of my blog topics. But, these are some pretty basic tutorials that are short and don't go to into depth but show you some basics that can help you to get started on your own time lapses. There things to take into consideration to make sure that when you are doing your time lapse, that it runs smoothly without things such as little flickers from white balance settings changing and things with the lens changing.

Jan. 19th Post.

Since the glass has been doing a lot of stuff about possible lighting scenarios, I thought I would share this link. I came across this link while I was stumbling and thought that it was perfect. It shows some different kinds of lighting situations and also shows lighting set ups that are made with ordinary boxes and cans. Just people using their resources around them and what they've got. There are actually some pretty cool shots of some still life photography where used very little light and another one using lights and slow shutter speeds. They're just painting with light and it makes for a really cool final photo.

Jan. 12th Blog

Since we were on the topic of portrait photography, I thought that I would just go and find some portrait pictures that I liked. I went and found 3, but the one that I particularly like the most is of the man in the construction hat. It have in interest in portraits that have very little color or are completely black and white. It just seems that the tone is set by having those settings and it adds to the seriousness of the picture and the overall quality of the photo itself.
Then, there are some portraits that are specialized for certain people. An example being the picture of the man with the trumpet. I see photos like that has a part of photojournalism because you're trying to capture someone important but have to somehow incorporate and show what they do for a living. It could be a background or even an object that is shown with the person.
